WINGATE, N.C. – The No. 24 Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team suffered its first South Atlantic Conference loss of the season on Wednesday afternoon, falling to No. 5 Wingate University on the road.
 
The Royals swept all three matches in doubles play to earn the first point of the match, beginning with a 6-4 win from Sebastian Meum and Kasper Rolfsen. The No. 1 tandem of Paolo Bompieri and Joel Dunlap knocked off the nation's 26^th-ranked doubles team by a 7-5 score before the duo of Agustin Aran Martin and Julian Bosch collected a 7-6 win.
 
Singles play opened with a win by Wingate's Daniel Belsito, ranked No. 25 in the latest Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings, to even the scored before Aran Martin, ranked No. 45 overall, responded with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 2 position to help Queens retake the lead.
 
Wingate took a one-point match lead with wins at No. 6 and No. 4, respectively, as the Royals battled back to tie the match with a 7-5, 6-4 win from Bompieri at No. 3, However, the Bulldogs sealed the match win with a victory at No. 5 to remained perfect in League play.
 
The Royals remain in conference for their next contest, a matchup with Anderson University (S.C.) on Saturday, March 23 at the Howard Levine Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
