TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team fell to the Crusaders of North Greenville University for the second time this season, getting swept 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-19) inside Hayes Gymnasium.
The Crusaders (14-7) hit .417 as a team in the match as all six starters hit above the .250 mark. Outside Jack Gilbert led all players with 11 kills and hit .474 as an individual.
Queens (4-16) started the night off strong, hitting .350 in the opening set. However, the Royals were held to a -.038 mark in the second set and a .071 hitting clip in the third frame to suffer the three-set loss.
Freshman
Caden Frye had a career-high 10 kills and hit .278 in his first start at the collegiate level. Sophomore
Tristan Santoyo followed with four kills and a .375 hitting mark in just one set of action, while fellow sophomore
Conner Nagaki recorded six digs on defense.
The Royals have a week away from competition before hosting Bluefield College and Alderson Broaddus University next Friday, March 22 in a tri-match at the Levine Center.
