WINGATE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team suffered its third straight loss on Wednesday night, falling to crosstown rival Wingate University 67-40 inside Cuddy Arena.
The Royals 9-16, 4-15 SAC) struggled offensively, making just 25 percent of their attempts from the field and committing 25 costly turnovers. Wingate (19-7, 14-5 SAC) shot just 38.2 percent from the floor but turned the Queens' miscues into 25 points and held a 45-30 advantage in total rebounds.
Queens got out to a 7-4 lead in the game's first four minutes of play, but the Bulldogs scored six of the next eight points to go in front for good. Wingate never trailed again, moving its advantage to as large as a 29-point margin in the fourth quarter, to claim the victory.
Senior
Lade Adepoju led the Royals with 10 points and five rebounds, while sophomore
Kristian Eanes also had 10 points in just 18 minutes of play. Freshman
Jaleah Goff followed with eight points, seven rebounds, and four steals.
The Royals close out the regular season on Saturday, March 2 when the team hosts Mars Hill University inside the Levine Center at 2 p.m.
