Royals Celebrate Senior Day with 80-61 Victory Over Mars Hill

Women's basketball wins double-digit games for the first time since joining the South Atlantic Conference

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team honored its four-member senior class with an 80-61 victory over the visiting Lions of Mars Hill University on Saturday afternoon inside Curry Arena. Senior Lade Adepoju, Carolina Bernardeco, Ceara Leavai, and Cheyenne Logan were recognized for their contributions to the program.
 
Following their final regular season contest, the Royals finish the season 10-16 overall with a 5-15 South Atlantic Conference record. The double-digit win total marks the first such occurrence for the women's basketball program since the 2012-13 season.
 
 Queens was ahead 24-11 after the first quarter of play before Mars Hill responded with a strong second quarter to tie the score at 36-all heading into the halftime break.
 
The Royals opened the second half on an 8-3 run, including consecutive 3-pointers from Bernardeco and Leavai to give Queens the lead. Mars Hill tied the game at 46-all midway through the quarter before an 11-0 run for the Royals put the team in front for good as Queens cruised to the home victory.
 
Adepoju led all players with 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting to go along with eight rebounds, five assists and four steals in her final game. Sophomore Kristian Eanes followed with 15 points and four steals of her own, while freshman Jaymi Golden had 10 points in 23 minutes off of the bench.
 
Leavai was 3-for-7 from deep for nine points, Bernardeco was a perfect 3-for-3 from the floor and finished with eight points, and Logan totaled six rebounds.
