CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball struggled offensive on Wednesday night, leading to a 65-50 loss to Catawba College inside Curry Arena.
The Royals (9-14, 4-13 SAC) shot just 32.8 percent from the floor, while Catawba (13-11, 8-9 SAC) made 46.8 percent of its shot attempts, including 50 percent in the second half.
After the Indians jumped out an early 8-2 lead in the opening two minutes of play, Queens responded with seven unanswered points and took a 9-8 lead on a 3-pointer from freshman
Jaymi Golden with 4:33 to play in the quarter. Queens clung to a 17-16 lead after the first period.
However, the Catawba defense, ranked in the League's Top 5 for opponent points per game, held the Royals to just seven points in the second quarter and laid claim to a 33-24 lead at intermission.
Catawba maintained its lead through the second half of play, picking up a crucial South Atlantic Conference victory on the road.

Lade Adepoju led all players with 21 points, making 8-of-11 shots, to go along with 11 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season.
Queens hits the road for its next contest against Carson-Newman University on Saturday, February 23 at 2 p.m. in Jefferson City, Tenn.
