Charlotte, NC - The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (11-5; 7-3 SAC) defeated Newberry (9-8; 5-5 SAC) by a 4-2 final score to advance to the South Atlantic Conference semifinals.

The Royals jumped to an early lead in the third minute off a cross from Matias Morales to Keegan Burton for Burton's fifth goal of the season. The Royals added on before halftime when Elvis Menayese drew a foul inside the box forcing a penalty kick. Michael Hornsby capitalized and Queens led 2-0 before halftime.

A five minute scoring frenzy commenced early in the second half when Queens and Newberry traded two goals a piece. Troy Paul scored both for the seventh-seeded Wolves while Caio Brandao and David Alvarez notched goals for second-seeded Queens.

The win bolsters Queens into the South Atlantic Conference semifinals in Matthews, NC. Queens will play Wingate at 1:30 p.m.
