CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte Royals (12-6) completed the 2019 field hockey regular season as South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Champions for the first time in program history with a 10-2 record. As a result, they earned the right to host the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Championships which will take place at Bessant Field on Friday, November 8 and Sunday, November 10.

Friday's semifinal round will begin at 4 p.m. with top-seeded Queens taking on fourth-seeded Belmont Abbey. The two teams split the regular season series with Belmont Abbey taking a 2-0 win at their place early in the season while Queens secured a 1-0 win at home. The Royals lead the all-time series 6-3.

Hanna Nechay and
Mazvita Mtisi, a pair of senior forwards, currently lead the Royals offensively. Nechay has 21 points on nine goals and three assists while Mtisi has 20 points on seven goals and six assists. Both also have two game-winning goals each.
Avian Thompson leads the Royals in goal with a .686 save percentage and an 11-6 record on the year.

The Crusaders are led by Bizzy Baumeier who has 21 points on nine goals and three assists. Lauren Delisi follows with 16 points on eight goals. Paige Hinds is 6-11 on the year with a .667 save percentage.

The second game of the semifinal round will be between second-seeded Newberry and third-seeded Limestone at 6:30 p.m. while Sunday's championship game will be played at 2 p.m.
