CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following a convincing 3-0 sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne University in the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Women's Volleyball Championship Semifinals, the Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team is set to face off against familiar foe Anderson University in a quarterfinal contest tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Curry Arena.
Queens, the tournament's No. 2 seed, has secured two five-set wins over Anderson, the tournament's No. 3 seed, already this season. The game will feature a total of nine all-conference performers, including the SAC Player of the Year in Anderson's Emily Conlin.
The two sides rank near the top of every statistical category among SAC institutions. Anderson leads the League with 230 total service aces, while the Royals are among the NCAA Top 10 in digs per set and opponent hitting percentage.
Junior
Casey Tarvin is Queens' top threat, averaging 3.69 kills per set and 4.29 digs per set, while fellow junior
Logan Witt chips in 2.71 kills per set behind a .343 hitting percentage. Senior setter
Mallory Swarts directs the offense with 9.99 assists per set and has totaled 44 service aces in 28 matches. Defensively, junior
JayCee Jones leads the team with 4.92 digs per set and sophomore
Lindsay Elmore has turned opponent away at the net with 1.01 blocks per set.
The Trojans have three players with more than 220 kills this season, led by sophomore Maya Learmouth's 2.78 kills per set. Middle Hailee Wilhelm hits a .347 clip and Conlin is among the NCAA's best with 10.58 assists per set.
