HARROGATE, TENN. – Junior
Logan Witt matched a career-high with 20 kills and hit .600 in the process, leading the Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team to a 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23) win over conference foe Lincoln Memorial University.
Witt also registered four total blocks, while sophomore
Lindsay Elmore contributed seven total blocks in forcing Lincoln Memorial (4-9, 4-6 SAC) into committing 24 attack errors. In contrast, Queens (10-3, 7-2 SAC) picked up its third win in a row after hitting .280 in the match.
The Royals jumped out to an early 10-4 lead to open the first set of play, forcing an LMU timeout. Queens continued to roll after the break, ending the set with six unanswered point to close the frame.
After the Railsplitters tied the match with a second set win, Queens hit .364 as a unit across the final two sets of play to claim the road win.
Junior
Casey Tarvin registered 14 kills and 18 digs, while fellow junior
Chanel Turner had 12 kills and 12 digs of her own. Senior
Mallory Swarts had 52 assists from her setter position and junior
JayCee Jones totaled 16 digs from the back row.
Queens returns home next weekend after being away for two weeks, hosting Newberry College on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Royals welcome Anderson University to Curry Arena for the team's annual Camper Day where all Queens' summer camp attendees receive free admission to the contest by wearing their camp t-shirts.
