CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. - The Queens University of Charlotte men's rugby team (5-1) defeated the Cavaliers of the University of Virginia Saturday afternoon, winning 51-28, to become the 2019 Cardinals Collegiate Rugby Conference (CCRC) regular season champions.
Alston Burton,
Dominic Tianga, and
Rylee Ellsworth each scored two tries to lead the Royals in the win, while
Marshall Frank recorded one try as well.
Two freshmen led in conversion kicks on the day as
Ben Stapleton recorded four and
Jack Williams recorded one along with two penalty kicks.
The Royals will host the CCRC Championships next at the Queens Sports Complex Saturday, November 2. A schedule of the tournament will be released at a later date.
