Queens Earns Hard-Fought Win in the Rain

Charlotte, NC - The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (7-5; 4-3 SAC) toughed out a win over Coker University (7-5; 3-4 SAC) amid severe rain by a final score of 2-1.

Queens scored first in a duel between evenly contested teams scoring in the 29th minute courtesy of junior defender Kieran Gore. The score remained 1-0 until half-time despite 26 total shots between the South Atlantic Conference foes.

First half rain escalated to second half showers and the visiting Cobras added more intrigue with a goal 13 seconds after intermission. Queens answered 13 minutes later with the game-winning goal from junior defender Michael Hornsby clenching a 2-1 lead.

Queens outlasted the Cobras headed by an eight-save performance from senior goalkeeper Sebastian Kalk.

Queens returns to action next Saturday, October 26th celebrating Senior Day at home vs Mars Hill at 2:30 p.m.
