CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Eight different Royals registered at least four kills at the Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team used a balanced attack to pick up a 3-0 (25-11, 25-9, 25-12) sweep of UVA-Wise on Saturday afternoon in Curry Arena.
The Royals (14-4, 11-2 SAC) were on the positive side of a lopsided box score outhitting the Cavaliers (1-16, 0-13 SAC) .366 to -.070 in the match. In addition to its offensive output, Queens tallied eight service aces including three from junior
Jordan Proszenyak and two from fellow junior
JayCee Jones.
After falling behind 2-0 in the first set, Queens opened up a double-digit lead with a 12-2 run and never trailed again in the match.
Junior
Chanel Turner led the Royals with seven kills, while juniors
Gabbi Montgomery,
Casey Tarvin, and Proszenyak finished with five kills each. Senior
Mallory Swarts had 27 assists and Jones led all players with 12 digs on defense.
Queens continues conference play on Tuesday, Oct. 22 when the team hosts Catawba College at 7 p.m. in the Levine Center.
