ANDERSON, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team opened the second half of the South Atlantic Conference's double-round robin schedule on Saturday, falling 89-59 to No. 11/21 Anderson University inside Abney Athletic Center.
Anderson (17-2, 11-0 SAC), ranked as the region's top team in the most recent D2SIDA Southeast Region Poll, received 30 points and 11 rebounds from guard Alexy Mollenhaur who shot 10-of-14 from the floor and 6-of-8 from 3-point range, while guard Ace Easter chipped in 17 points of her own.
The Trojans opened the game with four unanswered points, opening a lead of as large as a 13-point margin on a Mollenhauer 3-pointer to end the first quarter. The lead grew to 36-12 as Anderson went on an 11-0 run over the first 3:30 of the second quarter. AU held a 47-23 edge at intermission.
The third quarter saw the Trojan lead rise to a 39-point margin on a 3-pointer by Easter late in the period, as another Mollenhauer 3-pointer opened the fourth quarter of play. Queens went on a 14-0 run over a four-minute period to cut into the deficit, but the Trojan lead was too much to overcome.
Sophomore
Kristian Eanes led the Royals with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor and five steals to finish as the long Queens player in double figures. After being held scoreless in the first half, senior
Lade Adepoju finished with eight points and seven rebounds.
Queens continues SAC play on Wednesday, January 30 when the team hosts Lenoir-Rhyne University at 6 p.m. in the Levine Center.
