MARS HILL, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team rallied from a halftime deficit to pick up a 62-56 South Atlantic Conference win over Mars Hill University on Saturday afternoon inside Goodman Gymnasium.
The win snapped a 21-game conference losing streak for the Royals (6-9, 1-8 SAC) who shot 43.9 percent from the floor in the game, including making 14-of-27 (51.8%) of their field goal attempts in the second half. Queens held a 38-34 advantage in total rebounds and scored 26 points off of 20 Mars Hill (1-11, 0-8 SAC) turnovers.
Queens led by two with just over three minutes to play in the first quarter, but a 7-2 run from Mars Hill gave the Lions a three-point lead after the opening 10 minutes. The Lions extended their lead to as much as nine points on a 3-pointer from Mariah Johnson and held a five-point advantage at intermission.

Carolina Bernardeco kept Queens in front as another Adepoju layup gave the team an eight-point lead with 3:23 left in the period. Mars Hill made a late run, but the Royals clung to a three-point edge with one quarter remaining.
The fourth period featured three ties on the scoreboard, with the final coming at 54-54 after a jumper from Mars Hill's Shayla Smith with 4:25 on the clock. Smith led the Lions with 14 points on the day.
Freshman
Jaymi Golden broke the tie with a 3-pointer just 20 second later as Queens held the Lions scoreless for more than four minutes to end the game and secure the road victory. Golden had 11 points in the contest, including eight in the second half to go along with four rebounds and three assists.
Adepoju led all players with a game-high 18 points, making 7-of-11 shots from the floor and pulling down a game-high nine rebounds as well as tallying five assists and three steals. Redshirt-senior
Cheyenne Logan provided a spark for Queens off of the bench, scoring a season-high 10 points on a 4-for-6 shooting performance.
Queens will return home to the friendly confines of Curry Arena on Wednesday, January 23 as the team hosts rival Wingate University at 6 p.m.
