Emily Record Named Assistant Women’s Rugby Coach

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – Queens University of Charlotte's director of rugby Katie Wurst is pleased to announce the addition of Emily Record to her staff as new assistant coach for the 2018-19 season. Prior to joining the Royals, Record was the head coach of girls' rugby for the Essex County Bulldogs, assistant coach for the American Rugby Pro Training Center, and the head coach for rugby at Endicott College.
 
"I'm thrilled to be here," Record commented. "Queens had a lot of success in their first year and I'm looking forward to being part of the team as we build on that this year moving into the Mason Dixon Conference. We have a really good group of student-athletes and I'm really enjoying getting the chance to know them and to work with them on the field."
 
Record was the head coach for the University of Pennsylvania women's rugby team from September 2010-15 and then moved to assistant coach for the West Virginia University rugby squad from October to May of the 2015-16 season.
 
Record also worked as an assistant coach for the United States Air Force women's sevens in February 2017, the NERFU Allstars from December 2017 to January 2018, the NSCRO Allstars in June 2018, the Collegiate All-American sevens in June 2018, and the High School All-American sevens in July 2018.
 
Record obtained her bachelor's and master's degrees in computer engineering from Drexel University in 2004. Since then, she has obtained several coaching certifications which include CrossFit Level 1(2012), USA Rugby Level 1 and 2 (2012), CrossFit Strongman Trainer (2014), CrossFit Weightlifting Trainer (2015) NSCA-CPT (2016), USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach (2016), and USA Rugby Level 3 (2018). She is currently working on acquiring certification for OPEX CCP Level 1 Coach.
 
The Royals begin their 2018-19 season with their home opener Saturday, September 8 against The Citadel at the Queens Sport Complex at 1 p.m.
