CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team collected a 20-6 win over Mars Hill University this evening to move to 6-8 on the year and 4-1 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Lions now sit 2-9 on the year and 0-6 in league play. Â

Ally Blood led the Royals with five goals while
Katie Wardle,
Allison Conn,
Hanna Scott, and
Sydney Lear each recorded hat tricks. Scott also led in assists with three while Wardle and
Taylor Quade tallied two assists each.
Cammy Case totaled four caused turnovers, four ground balls, and four draw controls. Conn led with five draw controls.

Queens was hot early as Blood scored three goals in the first two minutes of action. Two more unanswered goals then followed for the Royals giving them a 5-0 run. Â The Lions' first goal of the day game at 24:01, but the home team answered with five more to make the score 10-1 at 14:54. A goal from Scott at 6:09 later put the Royals in front by 10, 13-3, enforcing the running clock rule and Queens went on to take a 14-4 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The second half was much quieter on the offensive end for the Royals, though Queens never relinquished control of the game. They went on to outscore the Lions 6-2 in the period to take the 14-point victory.

Queens outshot the Lions, 36-16, putting 27 shots on goal to Mars Hill's 11 shots on frame. The Royals also won the battle for ground balls, 20-11, though they lost the battle at the draw, 18-10.
Chase Brokaw picked up the win in goal after 30 minutes of play while
Sara Mitrecic recorded five saves in the second half.

Oliva Hokanson led the Lions with five goals and one assist. Alexandria Holleran took the loss in goal after recording seven saves.

The Royals will be back home at Dickson Field on Wednesday, April 11 when they welcome Newberry College. Last season, Queens topped the Wolves, 24-9, with
Sydney Lear scoring six goals. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
