CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team moved to 7-8 on the year and 5-1 in South Atlantic Conference play with a commanding 22-3 win over Newberry College at Dickson Field. The Wolves fall to 3-11 on the season and 1-4 in league play after taking the loss. Â

Katie Wardle led Queens with six points after totaling five goals and one assist.
Hanna Scott followed with five points on two goals and three assists while
Sydney Lear added four points with a pair of goals and two assists.
Rachel Perrett also totaled four points recording three goals and one assist, and
Kyleigh Masteran added a hat trick as well.
Allison Conn,
Ally Blood, and
Hayley Anna each added one goal and one assist while
Jasmin Singh and
Jordan Brown chipped in with one goal apiece.

Defensively,
Cammy Case and Blood recorded two caused turnovers each while
Chase Brokaw took the win in goal after tallying four saves.
Sara Mitrecic also saw time in goal this evening to record one save.

After trading goals with the Wolves early, Queens went on a 10-0 run to quickly pull ahead of Newberry, 11-1, and enforce the running clock with 21:51 left in the first half. Five more unanswered goals followed to cap the Royals' run at 15 before the Wolves found a goal with 2:49 on the clock. Wardle then scored her fourth goal of the evening at 1:39 to give the game a 17-2 score at the half.

In the second period, Queens coasted to victory putting five additional points on the board while allowing Newberry to score just once more before the final horn sounded.

The Royals outshot the Wolves, 36-10, putting 30 shots on goal to Newberry's eight shots on frame. Queens also won the battle at the draw, 15-11, and doubled Newberry's ground ball count to record 18.

Naomi Killian, Sophie Moore, and Helen Kuhn each scored once in the game for Newberry while Brandy Bowman totaled eight saves in goal.

Queens will return home on Saturday, April 14 when they host Catawba College at 3 p.m. for Senior Day. The Royals topped the Indians by a score of 16-4 last season with Blood's three goals and two assists leading the way.
