CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team defeated Mars Hill University this afternoon by a score of 19-7 at home to move to 6-5 on the year and 3-2 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Lions fall to 1-11 on the season and 0-6 in league play with the loss. Â

Kealan Pilon led the Royals with four goals and one assist for five points today while
Jesse Oliver recorded a hat trick.
Jake Coleman and
Justin Swick added two goals each while
Reed Murphy totaled three points on one goal and two assists. Kevin Barry and
Eric Fitz each added two points on one goal and one assist.
Drew Flack completed play with 14 ground balls after winning 18-of-20 faceoffs.Â

The Royals got off to another hot start in the first quarter scoring seven goals to Mars Hill's one to take a six-point lead heading into the second period. Queens then scored four goals in a row in the second giving the home team a 10-0 run over the two periods. They would lead 11-1 with 3:46 on the clock before the Lions closed with a pair to give the game an 11-3 score at the half.

Queens solidified its win outscoring the Lions 4-1 in the third quarter to extend the margin to 11, 15-4. The two teams then traded goals in the fourth with Queens' Coleman finding the back of the net with 32 seconds on the clock to give the Royals a 12-point win.

Queens outshot Mars Hill 59-29, putting 33 shots on goal to the Lions' 20 shots on frame. Queens also won the battle for ground balls, 43-17, and won 24-of-27 faceoffs.

Jake Trafton and Connor Fernandes led the Lions with two goals each. Ryan Kearney took the loss in goal after recording 14 saves.

Queens is back in action on Wednesday, April 11 when they welcome first-year program Newberry College to Dickson Field. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
