CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team picked up a convincing win over first-year program Newberry College this afternoon. The Royals just allowed one goal from the Wolves as they went on to win 12-1 in the South Atlantic Conference game. Queens moves to 7-5 on the year and 4-2 in the league with the victory while the Wolves drop to 4-9 on the year and 0-6 in the SAC.

Kealan Pilon and
Justin Swick led the Royals with three goals each. Kevin Barry recorded three points with one goal and two assists while Quinn Tallant totaled two points with a goal and an assist.
Griffin Stechmiller led on the defensive end with six caused turnovers while
Anthony Valenza took the win in goal after recording 10 saves.

The Royals held the Wolves scoreless in the first half of today's game while Swick and Pilon each found the back of the net twice to give the home team a 4-0 lead at the half.

Out of the break, Queens came alive once more on the offensive end scoring four unanswered goals to increase the lead to 8-0 before the Wolves found the back of the net for the first time at 3:18. A goal from Lazlo Henning with eight seconds left in the third period then gave the game a 9-1 score heading into the final 15 minutes of action.

The Royals closed the game adding four more points to the board in the fourth quarter to take the 11-point win and increase their winning streak to five.

Queens outshot the Wolves, 44-22, putting 25 shots on goal compared to 13 shots on frame by Newberry. The Royals also won the ground ball battle, 26-27, and won 10-of-18 faceoffs.
Drew Flack won 10-of-17 faceoffs and totaled seven ground balls.

Belton Bryan scored the lone goal of the day for the Wolves while Erick Szurley totaled 12 saves in goal.

Queens will return home on Saturday, April 14 when they host Catawba College at noon for Senior Day. The Royals defeated the Indians, 13-6, last season.
