HICKORY, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team suffered 61-45 road setback to fellow South Atlantic Conference member Lenoir-Rhyne University on Wednesday night inside Shuford Gymnasium.

The Bears (15-13, 9-11 SAC) held a slight 35-32 advantage in total rebounds, but hit 6-of-16 three-point attempts compared to an 0-for-8 performance by Queens (4-21, 1-18 SAC)) in the contest. The Royals were able to score 18 points off of 17 LR turnovers and held a 26-16 edge in points in the paint.

Lenoir-Rhyne scored the game's first points and led until back-to-back layups from freshman
Kristian Eanes and junior
Lade Adepoju put the Royals in front 10-8 with just under four minutes to play in the first quarter. The score was tied three separate times across the next four minutes as a jumper from senior
Melissa Blatnik left the two sides knotted at 14-all after one quarter.

Freshman
Herning Wang opened the second period with a jumper that gave Queens a brief lead before the Bears used a 10-0 run to build an eight-point lead. Lenoir-Rhyne carried a 35-24 lead into the halftime break.

Queens was able to cut the deficit to a four-point margin late in the third quarter following an offensive rebound a layup from Aepoju. However, 12 unanswered points across the third and fourth quarters extended Lenoir-Rhyne's lead to a 16-point advantage that was never challenged throughout the remainder of the game.

Adepoju was the only Royal to score in double figures, totaling 13 points on a 6-for-8 shooting performance, to go along with seven rebounds. Eanes totaled eight points of her own, while Wang and sophomore
Madison Turlington chipped in six points each.

The Royals 2017-18 season comes to an end this weekend as the team travels to Harrogate, Tenn. for a league contest with Lincoln Memorial University at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on WatchESPN and the ESPN App as a part of this season's Division II Basketball Showcase.
