DUE WEST, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team collected its second straight win on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 (25-20, 17-25, 25-23, 25-22) triumph over Erskine College.
Queens (3-8) had 45 kills in the match and took advantage of 15 Flying Fleet service errors, while holding the Erskine (0-9) offense to a .148 hitting mark.
The match began with back-to-back attack errors for the Royals, but Queens regrouped a claimed a 9-8 lead on a kill from graduate student
Jake Dube. The kill sparked an 11-4 run for Queens as the advantage stretch to 20-12 on a
Marco Vecellio kill.
Erskine was able to score eight of the set's next 13 points but the Queens lead was too much to overcome as the Royals led 1-0 early on. The Flying Fleet were in control for nearly all of the second set, leading a 1-1 tie on the scoreboard.
Queens took the lead for good midway through the third set to go ahead 2-1 in the match before leading nearly start to finish in the fourth and final frame to collect the team's third victory of the season.
Vecellio had his first double-double of the season, leading all players with a season-high 15 kills to go along with 13 digs. Freshman Donvan Bethel had eight kills for the Royals, while fellow freshman
Tristan Santoyo followed with seven kills and 14 digs.

Conner Nagaki also had 14 digs on defense, while first-year setter
Jack Mitchner had a season-high 42 assist and five total blocks. Freshman middle
Aleksandar Perisic tallied six kills and six total blocks to remain the NCAA Division I-II leader in blocks per set.
The Royals conclude their nine-game road trip with two matches next weekend against Barton College and University of Mount Olive.
