Postgame Interview with Sarah Jansen

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
The Queens University of Charlotte put together a late-game rally on Saturday afternoon, but fell short in an 82-78 loss to Lincoln Memorial inside Curry Arena.

Queens (4-4, 0-3) outscored the Railsplitters 38-26 in the paint and forced 27 turnovers on defense, but Lincoln Memorial (4-3, 2-1) countered by shooting 58.8 percent (10-of-17) from three-point range in the win.

The Royals led 19-15 after one quarter of play before Lincoln Memorial rebounded to outscore Queens by four in the second quarter leading to a 33-33 tie at intermission. The first half of action featured three lead changes and saw the score tied seven different times.

The two sides traded baskets in the early-going of the third quarter as Queens built a four-point lead with 6:03 to play after sophomore Herning Wang scored five straight points, including the conversion of an and-one. Over the following three minutes, Lincoln Memorial went on a 14-2 run to lead by eight points with just under three minutes to go in the third and carried a seven-point edge into the final period.

Lincoln Memorial's lead grew to as much as 10 points with 3:57 left to play as the Railsplitters hit crucial shots down the stretch. Queens was able to cut the deficit to a three-point margin three times over the final minutes but LMU held on.

The Railsplitters were led by senior Rachel Griffith who totaled a game-high 22 points, including 20 in the second half, to pace four LMU players in double figures.

Queens' senior Lade Adepoju led the team with 20 points, making 7-of-9 shots from the floor and 6-of-8 attempts from the charity stripe, to go along with a career-high five steals.

Freshman Jaymi Golden followed with 14 points while fellow freshman Jaleah Goff chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds. Wang and sophomore Kristian Eanes each recorded 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers for Queens.

The Royals hit the road for their next contest, a South Atlantic Conference matchup with Tusculum University on Sunday, December 16 in Greeneville, Tennessee.
