Postgame Interview with Sarah Jansen

DAVIDSON, N.C. –
The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team kept the game close for a half, but NCAA Division I Davidson College pulled away for an 80-47 victory on Wednesday night inside John M. Belk Arena.

The Royals hung close with the Wildcats in the opening two quarters, trailing by just 10 points at intermission. However, Davidson opened the third period on a 17-3 run to pull away from Queens and build an insurmountable lead.

Davidson was 7-for-23 (39.1%) from long range and made 21-of-28 free throw attempts while holding a 47-33 edge in total rebounds. The Queens defense was able to force the Wildcats into 27 total turnovers, thanks in large part to 13 steals.

Sophomore Kristian Eanes led the Royals with 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor to go along with four steals, while fellow sophomore Herning Wang was also in double figures with 11 points.

Senior transfer Carolina Bernardeco made her Queens debut and finished with five points, three rebounds and two steals, as fellow senior Lade Adepoju led the team with five rebounds.

Queens opens the 2018-2019 regular season on Saturday, November 10 when the team hosts Piedmont International University inside Curry Arena at 2 p.m.
