CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2018-19 season on Saturday afternoon, falling 69-53 to regional power Limestone College in a non-conference contest.
Playing in their third consecutive home game to open the year, the Royals (2-1) shot just 30 percent from the field, including 4-for-25 (16 %) from three-point range, while the defense was able to force 29 turnovers.
In comparison, the Saints (1-2) made 44.2 percent from the floor, making 9-of-23 attempts from long range, and holding a 48-25 advantage in total rebounds.
Defense was on display for both sides to open the game as it took nearly three minutes for a basket to be scored. The largest lead of the quarter was a 10-6 advantage for Queens following consecutive free throws from freshman
Jaymi Golden as the Royals held on to a one-point lead after a quarter of play.
The two sides remained close for much of the second period until Limestone ended the half on a 7-0 run to build a six-point lead at intermission.
Limestone continued to pad its lead in the second half, moving its edge to a double-digit lead with just under six minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Saints never trailed after shooting 61.9 percent in the half to steal the road win.

Lade Adepoju led the Royals with 17 points, six rebounds and four steals, followed by freshman
Jaleah Goff with 12 points and four rebounds.
The Royals return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20, when they travel to Tigerville, S.C. for their first road contest of the year against North Greenville University at 5:30 p.m.
