Queens Asserts Dominance in 4-0 Conference Rout of Wingate

Post-match Interview with Oliver Carias
Highlights

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
The last time the Queens University of Charlotte (8-3-1; 5-2 SAC) beat Wingate University (6-5-1; 4-4 SAC) in men's soccer dates back 15 years ago to 2003. On Wednesday night, the Royals put an end to that streak, routing the Bulldogs at Dickson Field by a final score of 4-0.

The Royals dominated from start to finish in a shutout performance while scoring at least four goals for the fourth time this season. For goalkeeper Sebastian Kalk, it marks his fifth shutout of the season, second-best in the South Atlantic Conference.

For Queens, four different players found the back of the net. Edmundo Robinson led the way on the offensive end with one goal and one assist, while Alberto Morales, Pedro Oliveira and Jaden McCane all capitalized on scoring opportunities on the night.

Robinson, who was named Preseason First-Team All-Conference, scored the game's first goal after beating the defenders on a long pass over the top from teammate Blake Baker. Robinson sprinted past the defense and beat the goalie for the game's first goal. He then juked out the goalkeeper to set up the second goal for the Royals, sending a pass directly on the head of Morales, who finished off the score on an unattended net.

After Oliveira headed in a cross from Liam Doyle off a free kick, Doyle's second assist of the season, freshman Jaden McCane split two defenders and buried a goal in the 88th minute, notching his first collegiate goal to spread the lead to 4-0.

Queens finished the match with 14 shots, seven of which went on goal, while the fierce back line held Wingate to five total shots and only two on goal.

Back on track and 4-1-1 record at home, the Royals are set to host Newberry next on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 4:30 p.m. from Dickson Field.
