Royals Look to Rebound with Road Trip to Mars Hill

 - The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team continues South Atlantic Conference play with a trip to Stanford Arena to face Mars Hill University. 

Opening tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. Live video and statistics coverage will be provided by Mars Hill Athletics and the Queens Sports Network will be on site to provide live audio with Phil Constantino.

Queens Royals (3-9, 0-6 SAC)

-Queens most recently fell to No. 22 Wingate University, 78-44, inside the Levine Center.

-Last season, Queens and Mars Hill split two regular-season matchups as Royals head coach Sarah Jansen faced off against the Lions where she spent the first four years of her head coaching career.

-In the Royals most recent victory versus North Greenville, 98-71 on Dec. 6, the Royals scored their most points in a game since Feb. 25, 2006, when Queens defeated St. Andrews University 98-84. The 27-point margin of victory was also the largest margin of victory for the Royals versus a Division II opponent since Feb. 12, 2013, when Queens defeated Belmont Abbey College 86-55.

-Queens completed the non-conference slate with a 3-3 record, finishing .500 or better in its non-conference schedule for the first time since the 2012-2013 season when Queens went 2-2 in non-conference action.

- The Royals are led by Lade Adepoju who averages 15.2 points on 54.6 percent shooting from the floor and 7.4 rebounds per contest. The junior transfer recently missed two games due to injury, but returned to score 12 and 15 points, respectively, across her last two games.
 
-Freshman Kristian Eanes is second on the team with 11.1 points per game and a 51.1 percent shooting mark and has scored in double figures eight times this season. Senior Mendy McNeese is the team's third-leading scorer with 10.9 points per game.

Mars Hill Lions (1-13, 0-6 SAC)

-The Lions most recently lost to Tusculum College, 98-68, and have lost their last 12 contests.

-Mars Hill's lone win this season came in a 66-60 triumph over non-conference opponent Converse College on Nov. 11 in Mars Hill, N.C.
 
-Junior Sheena Johnson is the Lions' leading scorer with 13.0 points per game and shoots 87 percent from the free throw line.

-Forward Shayla Smith missed the first nine games of the season but has averaged 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in five games since her return.  Guards Mariah Johnson (8.4 ppg) and Gabby Gianikos (7.6 ppg, 3.6 apg) add to the Mars Hill offense.
