CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 3 Queens University of Charlotte defeated Anderson University, 91-68, this evening during the Royals' homecoming celebration in Curry Arena. The win improves the Royals' record to 20-1 for their 14
th 20-win season in program history. Queens also sits 12-1 in South Atlantic Conference play while the Trojans drop to 7-13 on the year and 5-7 in league play. Queens now leads the series with Anderson, 28-9, after completing the home-and-home series sweep. Â

Todd Withers led the Royals this evening after scoring 29 points to match his career-high. He also recorded six rebounds, four assists, and one block.
Mike Davis added 14 points and six rebounds while
Ike Agusi totaled 12 points five assists.

Queens took over the lead in the second half of tonight's game at 18:08 on a jumper from
Jalin Alexander that was followed by a pair of three-pointers from Withers and Agusi never relinquishing it for the remainder of regulation. Soon after, a 12-0 run consisting of three triples and three-points the old-fashioned way would put the Royals in front by 16 points, 57-41, with 12:29 on the clock. Just two minutes later the margin had increased to 21, 66-45. Queens would lead by as much as 26 points, 90-64, before putting the 23-point win in the books.

The Royals found themselves trailing 35-33 at the break after shooting just 34.48-percent from the floor in the opening half. They would emerge from the locker room in the second back to their usual selves performing with a 61.76-percent clip. Additionally, Queens got hot from behind the three-point line in the second half shooting 52.94-percent.

The Royals' defense also stifled Anderson in the second half holding the Trojans to just 27.3-percent shooting from the three compared to their 85.7-percent performance in the first half. In addition, Queens forced the Trojans to turn the ball over 18 times this evening resulting in 27 points for Queens.

Jeremy Bouton led the Trojans with 20 points while Maurice Howard and Andrew Boynton totaled 10 points. Anderson's leading scorer, Randall Shaw, was held to just two points after just seeing five minutes of action due to being in foul trouble.

Queens will back at home on Wednesday, Jan. 31 when they face Coker College for the second time this regular season. Queens won 82-75 over the Cobras in the first meeting on the road. Withers led all players with 19 points and 12 rebounds for his 12th career double-double.
Shaun Willett made 6-of-8 shots from the floor and 3-of-4 free throw attempts to finish with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Alexander followed with 11 points. Agusi was the fourth Royal in double figures scoring 10 points to go along with five assists, four rebounds and three steals. Queens leads the series with Coker, 39-8, and tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
