LORETTO, PA. – In the second match of a nine-match road trip, the Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team was swept 3-0 (25-21, 30-28 25-14) by NCAA Division I institution Saint Francis University on Friday night.
The Royals (1-5) struggled offensively and hit just .052 in the match. Saint Francis (5-5), which received votes in the most recent AVCA Division I-II Coaches Poll, hit .267 as a team and collected six service aces.
Queens tallied the first two points of the match following back-to-back attack errors by the Red Flash, but three unanswered points put Saint Francis on top by one. After a brief tie at 3-all, SFU built a 13-9 lead before Queens rattled off three consecutive points to close the gap.
The margin once again grew to four points with Saint Francis holding the lead throughout and taking a 1-0 edge after a kill from Evan Feltz.
The second set of action featured 19 ties and seven lead changes as the two team combined to hit .283 but struggled from the service line with 17 combined service errors.
Neither side was able to gain an advantage of more than three points, with Queens' largest lead of two points occurring multiple times. The final such occurrence came at 24-22 following a kill from
Aleksandar Perisic and back-to-back kills from
Tristan Santoyo. Saint Franicis closed the set on a 3-0 run, courtesy of a Keith Kegerreis kill and consecutive Queens attack errors.
The Red Flash carried momentum into the third set with a 9-4 run as Saint Francis secured the sweep on its home floor.

Ruben Greenstein followed with six digs of his own, while Perisic tallied five total blocks.
Queens remains in Pennsylvania tomorrow for a test against six-time NCAA Division II National Champion Juniata College at 7 p.m.
