JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team fell to Carson-Newman College today, 2-0. Queens now sits at 3-3-2 on the season and 1-2-1 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Eagles advance to 5-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the SAC.

Carson-Newman got on the board early, scoring what would be the game-winner five minutes into play when Jonny Le Quesne grabbed a deflected Queens ball outside the 18-yard box and took a shot that put the Eagles up 1-0. The Royals were able to get off seven shot attempts but could not finish one before the half ended.

The Eagles capitalized again in the second half when Tom Rankin struck the ball from about 35-yards out on the left side of the field off a pass from Ashley Kelynak. The goal would put Carson-Newman ahead 2-0 with 57 minutes left to play. Queens put up four more shots on goal but none would find the back of the net before time expired.

Though Queens was outshot, 17-11, by the Eagles, they would record seven shots on goal to Carson-Newman's six. The Royals' goalkeeper,
Ben Wallace, totaled four saves today. Twan Verweij recorded seven saves for the Eagles.

The Royals travel to Barton College on Wednesday, September 27 for a non-conference match at 7 p.m. They then return home on Saturday, September 30 to face off against No. 5 Lenoir-Rhyne University at 7:30 p.m.
