ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team traveled to face Lindenwood University (5-0), falling 5-3 to the Lions. The Royals now sit at 1-5 on the year.

Lindenwood took a 3-1 lead into the break after opening the game with two goals in the first 10 minutes of action.
Jenna Lloyd answered for the Royals with a goal at 10:56. The Lions then put their final point of the half on the board in the 18
th.

Both teams would score two goals each in the second half with Lindenwood's coming in the 43
rd and 48
th, giving them a 5-1lead. Queens responded in the 50
th with a goal from
Mazvita Mtisi to close the gap to three, and another goal from
Renee Smith followed in the 69
th to bring Queens within two, 5-3. Unfortunately, that was as close as the Royals would get before time expired.

Queens was outshot, 17-12, by Lindenwood, putting eight shots on goal to the Lions' 13.
Kelsey Fringer totaled eight saves in the cage.

Queens will remain in St. Charles, Mo., to take on Bellarmine University tomorrow at 11 a.m. They will return home to Bessant Field on Wednesday, September 27.
