CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team moves on to the second round of the
NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championships after defeating fourth-seeded Regis, 15-11, this evening. Fifth-seeded Queens improves to 17-3 on the year and advances to face top-seeded and host school Lindenwood University (20-1), while the Rangers close their 2017 campaign at 17-3.

Hanna Scott led the Royals with five goals and one assist this evening for six points while
Kelly Dowd recorded a hat trick to follow.
Ally Blood and
Katie Pawlikowski added two goals each, and
Alexandra Bruder,
Shannon Mansberger and
Abigail Paulus chipped in with one goal each.

After a goal from Scott at 27:39 tied the game at 1-1, the Rangers put three unanswered points on the board to lead 4-1 with 22:42 on the clock. The Royals then outscored Regis 7-2 in the remaining minutes of the first half to take an 8-6 lead into the break.

Queens opened the second half scoring four goals to Regis' one to hold a 12-7 lead at the midway point. The Royals then held the Rangers to just four additional points while putting three more balls in the back of the net to secure their win and move on to the second round of the championships for the second straight year.

The Royals took 24 shots to Regis' 30, putting 20 shots on goal. Regis edged the Royals in ground balls, 20-18, and won the battle at the draw 17-10.
Chase Brokaw collected 12 saves in cage for the win.

Ali Vanek led the Rangers with four goals and one assist while Wendy Donier added three goals. Court Huston totaled five saves in goal.

The Royals and the Lions met earlier this season with Lindenwood taking the win, 14-8. Paulus and Scott led Queens in the loss with two goals apiece, while Rachel Benzing totaled three goals and two assists to lead the Lions with five points.
