CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The eighth-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team extended its win streak to five this afternoon with a 19-7 win over the University of Tampa Spartans in a torrential downpour at Dickson Field. With the win in the shortened game over the Spartans, Queens improved to 9-2 on the season. Tampa falls to 5-8.

Katie Pawlikowski led the Royals with six points on five goals and one assist. She was followed by
Alexandra Bruder who totaled four goals, while
Kelly Dowd finished with three goals.
Abigail Paulus finished with six points on two goals and four assists, while
Shannon Mansberger finished with four points on two goals and two assists.
Hanna Scott recorded three points on one goal and two assists, and
Ally Blood chipped in with two goals.
Cammy Case led on the defensive end with five caused turnovers.

Queens would dominate the first four minutes opening with four straight goals before lightning struck at 25:17 causing about a one hour delay. Pawlikowski, Dowd, Scott, and Bruder each scored during the run.

Though the rain would continue to drench the field, play resumed after a five-minute warm-up with Queens getting right back to business on a goal from Dowd that put the Royals in front, 5-0, with 21:59 on the clock.

Tampa's Amanda Voges eventually got the Spartans on the board at 14:49 after receiving a pass from Amanda Rom, cutting the lead to 5-1. However, Pawlikowski had an answer for the Royals in the form of back-to-back goals which gave her a hat trick and Queens a 7-1 lead. The Spartans responded to Pawlikowski's hot shooting with a 3-0 run to cut the Royals lead to, 7-4, with 4:32, but Pawlikowski had one more up her sleeve to bring her goal count to four in the half. Blood followed with another to increase Queens' lead five, 9-4, before a goal from Tampa's Voges with seven seconds on the clock gave the game a 9-5 score at the break.

After trading goals with the Spartans over the first seven minutes of the second half, Queens took over putting eight unanswered points on the board before another bolt of lightning ended the game with 8:45 left in regulation.

Queens outshot Tampa, 24-18, putting 22 shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Chase Brokaw totaled seven saves in the win.

The Spartans were led by Rom who had five points on one goal and four assists. Voges finished with a hat trick. Mackenzie Hackett recorded three saves in the cage.

The Royals can be seen back in action as they travel to Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, April 8. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
