The Royals (16-1) not only won their second straight SAC Tournament Championship, but they also completed the SAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship sweep with today's victory. Queens will finish a perfect 13-0 against all South Atlantic Conference competition this season.
Queens started the match off strong as they took two-of-three points in doubles with victories at the second and third matches, respectively. First, the No. 2 team of

Sebastian Meum came in first with an 8-1 win. Then the No. 3 team of
Jules Athalis and
Joel Dunlap followed with an 8-4 victory.
Wingate (17-4) did manage to salvage a point at the top doubles match and followed with the first singles point to tie the match up at 2-2.
Andor Vas then won the fourth flight (6-4, 6-2) to put QU ahead, but that would be only temporarily as WU's Daniel Belsito won the No. 2 match to tie it back up at three apiece.
Then, in a battle of two First Team All-Conference selections,
Jules Athalis defeated Filippo Pezzoli in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, to put Queens ahead.
With two matches still outstanding, the Royals only needed one more point to secure the championship, and they got just that at the No. 6 contest.
Zachary Williams defeated Nicholas Oliveria in three sets, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, to close out an undefeated conference campaign.
With the tournament championship in hand, Queens is now assured of an NCAA Division II Southeast Regional berth. Stay tuned to www.QueensAthletics.com for more information about opponents, dates and location.
