CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team grabbed their eighth straight win this afternoon, defeating Coker College, 17-10, to move to 6-0 in South Atlantic Conference play. The eighth-ranked Royals are the only undefeated team left in conference play and sit at 12-2 on the year. The Cobras fall to 11-4 on the year and 5-2 in league play.

Senior midfielder
Alexandra Bruder led the Royals with five goals on the day, while fellow senior
Kourtney Goebel led in points with six on two goals and four assists.
Hanna Scott added four goals, while
Kelly Dowd recorded a hat trick and tallied one assist.
Shannon Mansberger added three points on one goal and two assists, and
Abigail Paulus and
Katie Pawlikowski both notched one goal and one assist. Dowd also recorded seven caused turnovers and six ground balls.

After opening with the first goal of the game coming from Scott, Queens found themselves trailing 2-1 with 25:36 on the clock. A 4-0 run for the Royals quickly turned things around as they turned their one-goal deficit into a three-goal lead, 5-2, with 14:44 to play. The Cobras found the back of the net a few more times to keep things close until the Royals found their stride in the closing six minutes netting six unanswered goals to take a 12-5 lead with just over a minute left in the half. The Cobras then closed the period with two additional goals to give the game a 12-7 score at the break.

Goals from Mansberger and Scott early in the second helped the Royals extend their lead to seven, 14-7, before three straight from the Cobras cut the margin back to four, 14-10 with 13:48 to play. Queens then held the Cobras scoreless in the remaining minutes of play, while also adding three more points to their total to take the seven-goal win.

The Royals outshot Coker 30-22, putting 22 shots on goal. The Cobras took the battle at the draw, 16-12, while Queens recorded 27 ground balls to the Cobras' 18.
Christine Wiese picked up the win in the cage for Queens.

Faith Kent recorded six points on one goal and five assists to lead Coker in points, while Haley McCusker totaled five goals. Claudia Jenkins added two goals. Cassie Williams took the loss in goal after recording five saves.

The Royals will be back in action on Monday when they host No. 2 Lindenwood University at Dickson Field. The game with the Lions is scheduled 4 p.m.
