CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Abigail Paulus and
Hanna Scott scored two goals apiece as the eighth-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team (12-3, 6-0 SAC) hung tough, but ultimately fell to No. 2 Lindenwood University (16-0) 14-8 in a nonconference matchup on Monday evening at the Queens Sports Complex. The loss puts an end to an eight-game winning streak for Queens.

Paulus and Scott led the Royals as four others recorded one goal each.
Katie Pawlikowski totaled three assists to lead Queens in the category, while
Kelly Dowd led in ground balls with six and was one of three to record four caused turnovers. Dowd also tallied three draw controls making her the all-time leader in program history with 191.

Queens opened strong and took a 2-0 lead just over one minute in when Paulus found the back of the net at 29:10 of the first half, and 17 seconds later the team's leading goal scorer
Alexandra Bruder scored her lone goal of the game and 37th of the season.

Lindenwood took one back as Hannah Doughty scored her first of two at 25:40 of the first to make it 2-1 Queens.

Moments later, at 22:39, Paulus tallied her second of the game to make it 3-1 Queens, but four consecutive Lindenwood scores, including two from Allison Hurley, put the No. 2 team in the country up 5-3.

The Royals scored two of the final three goals to end the first period,
Ally Blood at 13:35 and Scott's first at 5:29, but Queens carried a one-goal deficit into the locker room, 6-5.

The two sides traded goals to open the second period as a goal from
Shannon Mansberger at 28:28 and Scott's second goal at 24:04 helped Queens tie the score 7-7.

However, Queens did not score again until
Katie Wardle notched one with 1:40 remaining. Prior to Wardle's goal, which would be the last of the game, Lindenwood rattled off the seven unanswered to take their largest lead of the day, 14-7.

The Royals were outshot 27-19, putting 15 shots on goal to Lindenwood's 21. Additionally, Queens won the battle for ground balls, 23-19, but the Lions took the draw, 15-9.
Chase Brokaw played well in the net for Queens making seven saves on 21 shots on goal.

Rachel Benzing totaled three goals and two assists to lead the Lions with five points. Goalkeeper Rachel Ortell recorded seven saves in the cage.

The Royals return to action and South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday, April 19 versus Wingate University at 4 p.m. It is the third game for Queens in five days and the final home game of the regular season. Live video coverage will be available on
