GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team traveled to take on No. 1 Limestone College, falling 17-3 to a strong Saints squad. The Royals fall to 6-6 on the year with the nonconference loss, while Limestone remains undefeated on the year at 13-0.
Lazlo Henning led the Royals with a pair of goals this evening, while
Justin Swick tallied one.
Queens' Henning put the Royals' first point on the board at 12:19 in the first to knot the game at 1-1, but the Saints responded with six straight to build their lead and take a 7-1 advantage into the second. A goal at 6:07 in the second period from Limestone would extend their run to seven unanswered goals before Swick found the back of the net at 3:44 to end the Royals' scoring drought. However, the Saints would take a 10-2 lead into the break.
Limestone went on to outscore the Royals 7-1 in the second half to keep their undefeated record intact. Queens' lone second half goal came in the third from Henning, giving the freshman nine on the year.
Brendan Smith led the Saints with four goals, while Tyler Papa recorded a hat trick.
Queens will be back in action on Saturday, April 15 when they host Coker College at 4 p.m.
