CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team, ranked No.9 in the nation, won its conference matchup versus Brevard College, 20-6, after today's game was delayed due to a string of lightning delays. Queens improves to 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference play, while the Tornados fall to 1-6.

The Royals were led by Alexander Bruder who totaled three goals on the day.
Kelly Dowd,
Hanna Scott,
Ally Blood,
Rachel Perrett,
Katy Miller,
Katie Pawlikowski, and
Sydney Lear each netted two goals.
Shannon Mansberger and Dowd tallied two assists apiece. Miller also tallied five ground balls and four caused turnovers to lead in each category, while Dowd led in draw controls with five.

Queens opened the game hot, scoring two goals before the three-minute mark and running with it. The Royals would go on to score seven unanswered goals before Brevard notched one at the 16:32 mark to make it a 7-1 lead for Queens. During the run Bruder netted a hat-trick while Scott also put two in the back of the net.Â

Dowd scored her second goal of the match at the 15:49 mark of the first half starting another run for the Royals. Her score was followed by goals from Pawlikowski,
Abigail Paulus, Blood, and Mansberger which put the home team on top 13-1. Brevard netted a goal in the final minute to close the first half trailing Queens, 13-2.

The Tornados scored two quick goals in the second trying to spark a comeback before, but a pair of goals from Perrett helped Queens increase its lead back to 11, 15-4. Goals came fast to finish the game as the Royals went on a 7-2 run in the final twenty minutes of regulation to secure their second conference win of the season.Â

Queens outshot Brevard, 42-9, putting 36 shots on goal. The Royals also won the battle for ground balls, 21-9, and draw controls, 17-8.

Brevard was led by Nina Sui and Victoria Hayes who each had three goals on the day. Siu also had one assist. Goalkeeper Shelby Arsenault totaled 16 saves.

The Royals will be traveling to face Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee on Saturday, March 25. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
