CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team, seeded second in the South Atlantic Conference Championships, defeated seventh-seeded Anderson University by a score of 79-61 this evening in Curry Arena. The win over the Trojans is the third for the Royals this season and it moves the home team's overall record to 26-3. Anderson closed their season at 13-16.

The Royals, ranked 10
th in the NABC National Poll, were led by
Mike Davis who totaled 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. He also grabbed six rebounds and tallied a pair of blocks in the game.
Jalin Alexander totaled 16 points, while
Daniel Camps was one rebound shy of his fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Ike Agusi added 11 points and six assists, while
Todd Withers recorded seven points and seven assists.

After the Trojans opened with the first bucket of the game at 19:15, Queens' Alexander tied things up at 18:48 and a layup from Camps soon followed to give Queens a 4-3 lead. A 7-2 run came after to put Queens ahead 11-5 with 15:19 on the clock, and the Royals would never relinquish the lead again for the remainder of play. Queens would see its largest lead of the period when a 10-0 spurt put them on top 38-23 with 3:27 left in the half. They would go on to take 40-30 lead into the locker room at the break.

Opening the second half draining four-of-five threes, the Trojans would pull within seven of the Royals by the 16:58 mark. However, that was as close as Queens would allow them to get as a 12-2 push put the home team in front by 17 points, 63-46. By the 3:33 mark, the Royals had extended their lead to 21, the largest of the night.

Queens shot 53.7-percent from the floor, outscoring the Trojans 46-22 in the paint, to secure their spot in the semifinal round. The Royals also dominated under the glass pulling down 41 rebounds to Anderson's 22.

Jeremy Bouton led the Trojans with 25 points and five rebounds, while Carlos Dotson added 14 points.

Queens will face either third seeded Wingate on Saturday, March 4. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. in Greenville, S.C.
