CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team dominated the courts today as the team won their third conference match of the season against Brevard College, 9-0. The Royals swept the doubles and singles matches, advancing their record to 3-1 overall and 3-0 in the South Atlantic Conference. Brevard dropped to an overall record of 2-8 and a SAC record of 0-5.
In the doubles matches,
Jules Athalis and
Joel Dunlap took the first point on court two, defeating Cre Still and Chris Plasa by a score of 8-0. Finishing shortly after on court three was
Andor Vas and
Will Roberson who defeated Will Christiansen and Tim Hengst by a score of 8-3. Securing the third point for the team,
Giovanni Setti and
Sebastian Meum rose above Tom Mittring and J.R. Davis 8-6.
The singles matches followed with Athalis defeated Still with scores of 6-2, 6-0 for the No. 1 flight. Vas secured the match point with a win over Hengst 6-3, 6-1.
Paolo Bompieri battled with his competitor, Mittring, through three sets to win 3-6, 6-3, 10-7.
Zachary Williams won his match 6-1, 6-0 on court five against Plasa. Augustin Aran Martin tallied his point on court three, 6-0, 6-0, and
Joel Dunlap won his match 6-2, 6-1 for the final point on court six.
The Royals will be back in action on Thursday, March 9 as they travel to Johnson C. Smith (0-4) at 1 p.m.
