ANDERSON, S.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team suffered its third South Atlantic Conference loss of the season, 79-60, at the hands of Anderson University (S.C.) on Saturday afternoon inside the Abney Center.
The Royals (3-5, 0-3 SAC) struggled offensively in the first half, shooting just 36 percent from the floor and had 10 turnovers. Anderson (7-3, 2-1 SAC) made 47.5 percent of its shots in the first two quarters, leading to a 48-25 advantage at the half.
Queens won the third quarter of play, 18-13, but the Trojans' lead was too much to overcome down the stretch. Anderson shot 50 percent as a team and had a 50-21 advantage in total rebounds.
Anderson's Alexis Dillard led all players with 22 points and 15 rebounds, followed by an 18-point performance from Alexy Mollenhaur.
Junior
Ceara Leavai once again led the Royals on offense, finishing with 17 points thanks in large part to a 4-for-6 performance from beyond the three-point arc.
Fellow junior
Lade Adepoju and freshman
Herning Wang each tallied 11 points, while freshman
Kristian Eanes chipped in 10 points off of the bench.
The Royals next contest takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 13, when Queens welcomes Carson-Newman University to Charlotte, N.C. for a 6 p.m. tip inside the Levine Center.
