GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team ended the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 76-53 loss to Limestone College on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints, ranked fourth overall in the latest Southeast regional rankings, improved to 9-2 overall after knocking down 46.7 percent of their shots from the floor and forcing Queens to commit 31 turnovers. In contrast, the Royals fell to 3-8 on the year after making just 35.4 percent of their shots in the game and being outscored 34-16 in the paint.
Limestone was in control from the start making 16-of-32 shot attempts in the first half to build a 47-19 edge at intermission.
In the second half, Queens responded by forcing the Saints into 15 turnovers and outscored limestone 34-29 across the final two quarters. However, the Limestone lead was too much to overcome despite the Royals ending the contest on an 8-2 run over the final three minutes of action.
Four players scored in double figures for Limestone, led by Taylour Hunter and Aliya Ruffin with 16 points each.
Junior Lade Adepoju, who missed the team's last two games due to injury, returned to lead the Royals with 12 points and nine rebounds.
Freshmen Kristian Eanes and Caitlyn Moore finished with 12 points each, while senior Victoria Robinson collected six points and three rebounds in her first start of the season.
The Royals return to South Atlantic Conference play next week when they host rival Wingate University on Wednesday, January 3 in Curry Arena at 6 p.m.
