CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team was forced to commit 25 turnovers, leading to a 78-44 loss to No. 22 Wingate University in the team's first action of the New Year.
Wingate improved to 11-2 overall and 5-1 in the South Atlantic Conference after shooting 62.3 percent from the floor and scoring 32 points off of the Queens' miscues. The Royals fell to 3-9 overall with a 0-6 record in the league following the loss.
The Royals kept the game close in the opening quarter of play, leading multiple times across the first 10 minutes of action but trailed 23-20 at the end of the period. Wingate carried momentum over into the second frame, going on a 9-2 run late in the period to build a 12-point advantage at intermission.
Wingate continued to control the game, going on a 13-0 run to begin the second half. The Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas pedal, leading to a 34-point road win.

Lade Adepoju led the Royals with 15 points, while freshman
Kristian Eanes scored eight points in the opening half and finished with 14 points and three steals.
Queens hits the road for its next contest, a matchup with league foe Mars Hill University on Saturday, January 6 in Mars Hill, N.C.
