CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The seventh-seeded Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team defeated sixth-seeded Anderson University, 2-0, in the semifinal round of the
South Atlantic Conference Championships today. The Royals, now 9-5-4, advance to the championship where they will take on Wingate University. It is the second time in three years that the two teams will meet in the finals.

The Royals struck first, 14 minutes into play, when
Liam Doyle took a shot from outside the 18-yard box, and after a few deflections off some Trojans players, the ball found the back of the net putting Queens up, 1-0. His goal would be the lone goal of the half.

Queens capitalized again in the 55
th minute when
Edmundo Robinson broke past Anderson's defensive line and chipped Anderson's goalie. Keeping the pressure high and playing stellar defense the Royals kept Anderson scoreless through regulation.

Robinson, a SAC All-Conference First Team honoree, led the Royals attack with two shots on goal. He was followed by Doyle,
Pedro Oliveira,
Alberto Morales,
Juan Carlos Carrillo,
Keegan Burton, and
Adam Ward who all had one shot on goal apiece.

Queens' goalkeeper,
Sergio Lemus, grabbed his fourth shutout of the season and totaled seven saves.

The Royals take the field at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5 for their match against Wingate University. Queens fell to the Bulldogs, 4-1, earlier this season. Wingate also took the 2015 championship game over the Royals by a score of 2-0.
