SALISBURY, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team suffered a 69-58 non-conference loss in a road contest against Livingstone College on Tuesday night.
The Bears improved to 3-2 on the season after shooting 38.8 percent from the field and knocking down 10 three-pointers, while the Royals evened their record at 2-2 after a 37.5 percent shooting performance and holding a 28-24 advantage in points scored in the paint.
Junior
Lade Adepoju led the Royals with 19 points, shooting 9-for-15 from the floor to go along with a team-high eight rebounds. Senior
Mendy McNeese followed with 14 points and three steals in 27 minutes off of the bench.
Sophomore
Madison Turlington registered a career-high eight points and seven rebounds, while freshman
Herning Wang tallied seven points and six rebounds of her own.
Livingstone's Zena Lovette registered a game-high 32 points and 13 rebounds for the Bears to lead three players in double figures.
Queens held a five-point lead midway through the opening quarter of play, but Livingstone closed the period on an 8-2 run to claim a one-point advantage. The Royals and Bears traded baskets in the early going of the second quarter, however, the home team scored 15 unanswered points over a period of 3:42 to build a lead they carried into intermission.
After the break, the Bears continued to hold the lead as Queens was unable to cut the deficit any closer than four points in the defeat.
The Royals will take the Thanksgiving holiday to regroup before beginning South Atlantic Conference play on Wednesday, Nov. 29 in the Levine Center at 6 p.m
