Queens Remains No. 2 in NABC/Division II National Rankings

Complete Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team (5-0) remained the No. 2 ranked team in the country in the first NABC/Division II Rankings of the 2017-2018 season released on Tuesday. The Royals, who were also ranked No. 2 by the coaches in the preseason, received one first-place vote, and are ranked only behind defending national champion Northwest Missouri State University (4-0), who received 15 of the possible 16 first-place votes.

The No. 2 ranking remains the highest in program history, as Queens has secured all five of its wins by double digits. The Royals have won five straight games to open the season for the third consecutive year, having opened the 2015-2016 season with 12 straight wins and the 2016-2017 season with a program record 16 straight wins.

Queens has featured four different leading scorers in a single game this season (Todd Withers, Mike Davis, Jalin Alexander, Ike Agusi), led by Withers who leads the team in scoring (15.2 PPG), rebounding (7.4 RPG), and three-point field goal percentage (56.3%). Withers posted a career-high 29-point performance against the University of North Georgia on Nov. 11, while grabbing 11 rebounds to record his ninth career double-double.

As a team, Queens ranks top 50 in the nation in several statistical categories including scoring margin (8th, 24.8 PPG), scoring offense (50th, 87.0 PPG), scoring defense (15th, 62.6 PPG), three-point field goals made (T-27th, 11.0 per game), three-point field goal percentage (34th, 42.6%), and rebounding margin (T-19th, 10.6 RPG). The Royals 104-60 win over Livingstone College on Nov. 17 was the largest margin of victory in a win since Queens defeated the College of Faith on Dec. 18, 2014.

The Royals return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 29, versus Catawba College in their South Atlantic Conference opener at the Levine Center. Opening tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Live video coverage will be available on the Queens Sports Network.
