Both teams struggled shooting from the floor in the first half of tonight's game. After jumping out a 17-5 lead in the first seven minutes of action, the Royals' offense went stagnant allowing JCSU to close the gap. Queens would only put 12 more points on the board before heading into the locker room with a 29-25 lead.
The Royals opened the second half with six unanswered points to increase its lead to 10, 35-25, not even a minute into play. Later, they would string together a number of runs to grow their lead to its largest of the night, 58-39, with 10:04 to play. The Golden Bulls would use an 8-0 push late in the game to pull within eight points of Queens, but that is as close as the Royals would let them get before increasing the margin back out to 13 before the final horn sounded.
The Royals improved from shooting 38.45-percent from the floor in the first to half to 45.45-percent in the second. They also improved their three-point shooting from 18.18-percent to 31.58-percent.
Robert Davis led the Golden Bulls with 21 points and six rebounds. Christian Kirchman added 20 points and six assists.
The Royals will have some time off for the holidays before returning to competition at home on Wednesday, Nov. 29 against Catawba College. The game with the Indians will open South Atlantic Conference play for the Royals. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
