CHARLOTTE, N.C. – No. 2 Queens University of Charlotte opened South Atlantic Conference play this evening at home against Catawba College defeating the Indians, 83-65. The Royals now sit undefeated at 6-0 on the year, while Catawba drops to 2-3.

Ike Agusi and
Josh Van Weezep led the Royals with 12 points each.
Mike Davis added 11 points and
Jalin Alexander scored 10 points.
Todd Withers led in rebounds with seven to go along with his four points, two assists, three blocks.

After sitting tied 2-2 at the start of the game with the Indians, the Royals worked their way up to a 10-point lead, 23-13, with 9:27 left to play in the half. Queens then closed the half with a 10-0 run to take a 48-26 lead into the break.

The Royals continued their dominant play into the second half of action, seeing their largest lead of the night at 5:05 when a layup from Shaun Willet put the home team in front, 80-52. Following his bucket, the Indians would go on a 13-0 spurt but the Royals' strong performance offensively would be too much to overcome before the final horn sounded.

Malik Constantine led the Indians with 21 points. Jerrin Morrison added 12 points.

Queens is on the road on Saturday, Dec. 2 at Tusculum College. The Royals swept the Pioneers last season winning 83-79 on the road and 80-54 at home. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
