MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The second-ranked Queens University of Charlotte Royals concluded competition in the Bobcat Crossover Classic this weekend defeating North Georgia by a score of 81-70. The win improves the Royals' record to 2-0 while the Nighthawks open their season at 1-1.

Todd Withers had the hot hand this afternoon for Queens totaling a new career-high 29 points after connecting on 9-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the foul line. Six of Withers' field goals were triples, and the senior totaled 11 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season.
Mike Davis followed with 20 points and seven rebounds while
Ike Agusi added 13 points.
Daniel Carr chipped in with seven points while matching his career-high in assists with seven.

Queens quickly jumped out to a 13-5 lead just over five minutes into play in this afternoon's game but a scoring drought would soon follow allowing the Nighthawks to take over control of the lead. A pair of threes from North Georgia gave them a 17-15 lead with 12:49 on the clock and they would pull away by as much as nine before the halftime horn sounded. The Royals headed into the locker room trailing, 37-31, at the break.

The Royals continued to fight their way back into the game in the second chipping away at the Nighthawks' lead as time ticked off the clock. A three-pointer from Withers at 13:42 put Queens back in front, 47-46, for the first time since the 12:49 mark in the first half. Four more lead changes followed before the Royals took over for good on a pair of free throws from Agusi with 6:30 to play. Queens then closed the game with a 13-4 run to secure the win.

After shooting 35-percent from the floor in the opening half, Queens shot 48-percent in the second. North Georgia performed with a 46-percent clip in the first half before shooting just 36-percent in the second. The Nighthawks also struggled from the foul line shooting just 47-percent in the game.

Shaquan Cantrell led the Nighthawks with 21 points while Tyler Dominy and Ephraim Tshimanga each netted 10 points.

The Royals will look ahead to their home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 15 when they will host Clayton State University in Curry Arena. The Royals defeated the Lakers, 81-71, last season in the Embassy Suites SAC/PBC Tip-Off Challenge. Withers led with 25 points. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
