CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The seventh seeded Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (8-5-4, 3-4-3)Â defeated second seeded Carson-Newman University (9-7-2, 6-2-2)Â tonight in the South Atlantic Conference Championship Quarterfinals, 3-2 in overtime.

The Eagles struck first in the 26
th minute with a goal by Collin Hensel who grabbed a deflected ball to put into the back of the net. This would be the lone goal of the half and Carson-Newman would lead 1-0 at halftime.

Queens gained life in the 58
th minute when
Michael Hornsby found
Keegan Burton in the center of the box where he beat the keeper with a shot tying the score at 1-1. The Royals then took the lead in the 68
th minute when
Juan Carlos Carrillo passed the ball off to
Edmundo Robinson at the top of the 18-yard box. Robinson was able to one-touch the shot and slip it past the right-side post.

The Eagles did not let up and in the 83
rd minute Tom Read gathered a rebounded ball on the left side of the box to tie the score at 2-2. Time then expired leaving the regulation score at 2-2 and sending the game into overtime.

In the first 49 seconds of the first overtime period Queens was fouled inside the box resulting in a penalty kick. Omer Okyar took the kick for the Royals and scored the golden goal that pushed them past the Eagles.

The Royals will advance to the SAC Championship Semi-Finals which are being held at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Queens will face sixth-seeded Anderson in a 1:30 p.m. match on Friday, Nov. 3.
