CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team fell to Life University today by a score of 44-0 at Dickson Field. The Royals now sit 5-2 on the year.
The Royals were able to make their way down the field for potential attempts to score in today's hard-fought loss, but they would come up short in scoring a single try on the day.
The Eagles' Lauren Dodd scored the first try of the match 12 minutes into the first half. Sydnee Cervinski and Ana Fanning also scored a try each for the Eagles to put them up 15-0. With 14 minutes left in the first, Ciara Lambert also scored a try to increase their lead 20-0. Neither team would score in the final minutes heading into the locker room.
To start the second half Lambert would score another try, followed by a good conversion kick from Emilie Cunnington putting the Eagles up 27-0 on the Royals. The Eagles would continue to score in the second half, making the score 39-0 with 18 minutes left to play. In the final minutes of play, the Eagles added another try to make the final score 44-0.
The Royals head to Charleston, S.C., next to take on The Citadel on Saturday, October 28.
